Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has announced that the highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) will arrive on Xbox and PlayStation consoles in Fall 2025, while PC gamers will need to wait until early 2026. According to LatestLY, the game could launch around September 17, 2025, for consoles, with prices in India expected to range from ₹5,999 for the standard edition to as much as ₹20,000 for a special collector’s edition.

What is GTA 6?

GTA 6 is the next big game in the popular Grand Theft Auto series. It’s what gamers call an open-world sandbox-style game. This means players can freely explore a huge virtual world without many restrictions. Think of it like a digital playground where you can go anywhere, do almost anything, and create your own fun rather than following a strict path. You can drive cars, explore cities, complete missions, or just wander around as you please.

Rockstar Games, the company making GTA 6, has even built a special data center just for this game. This shows how big and complex the new game will be compared to older versions.

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) trailer 1 has reached over 250 million views in over 500 days. The trailer was released on December 5, 2023.

When Can You Play It?

The game has two different release timeframes:

  • Console release (Xbox and PlayStation): Fall 2025 (likely around September 17, 2025)
  • PC version release: First quarter of 2026 (January-March 2026)

More details about the game might come during Take-Two’s earnings call on April 15, 2025. Fans might also see a new trailer during the Summer Game Fest 2025, with a second trailer expected closer to the game’s release date.

How Much Will It Cost?

The price will vary depending on where you live and which version you buy:

  • India: ₹5,999 (standard edition), ₹7,299 (special edition), up to ₹20,000 (collector’s edition)
  • Canada: CAD 90 to CAD 130 (about ₹5,500 to ₹8,000)
  • Dubai: AED 259 to AED 370 (about ₹5,900 to ₹8,400)

The price differences include local taxes, import duties, and currency exchange rates. Globally, special editions might cost up to USD 100 (about ₹8,339).

What Kind of Computer Will You Need?

If you plan to play GTA 6 on a PC, you’ll need a pretty powerful machine. The game will only work on Windows 11 and requires strong hardware:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Processor (CPU): Intel Core i5-6600K (the brain of your computer)
  • Graphics Card (GPU): NVIDIA GTX 1660 (the part that creates the images you see)
  • Memory (RAM): 16GB (think of this as your computer’s short-term memory)
  • Storage: 150GB SSD (the space needed to install the game)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700 (a more powerful brain)
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA RTX 3060 (better image quality)
  • Memory: 32GB (twice the short-term memory)

For Best Experience:

  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA RTX 3080 or better
  • Processor: Intel Core i9-12900K
  • Memory: 32GB or more

These high-end computers will be able to handle ray tracing (a technology that makes light and shadows look more realistic, like sunlight bouncing off water or shining through windows) and other advanced graphics that make the game look more lifelike.

A Bigger World to Explore

GTA 6’s map (the game world) will be much larger than previous games. Experts think it could be 2-3 times bigger than GTA 5’s map, which was 80.8 square kilometers (31.2 square miles). To understand how big that is, imagine an area about 2-3 times the size of Manhattan in New York.

The new map could range from 48 to 125 square kilometers and will include areas like:

  • Vice City (based on Miami)
  • Port Gellhorn
  • Leonida Keys (similar to the Florida Keys)

The world will have different landscapes including beaches, swamps, and cities, giving players more varied places to explore than ever before.

Building Up the Excitement

Rockstar Games is carefully planning how to keep fans excited about GTA 6. They’ve already released one trailer, and a second one is expected closer to the game’s release date. The company wants to make sure anticipation stays high until the game launches.

The marketing approach aims to build on the massive success of GTA 5, which has been one of the best-selling video games of all time.

Why This Matters

GTA 6 is one of the most eagerly awaited games in years. The previous game, GTA 5, came out in 2013, meaning fans have been waiting over a decade for this new installment. The game promises to have better gameplay, more realistic graphics, and a larger world than ever before.

For gamers in India and around the world, this release represents a major event in the gaming calendar, though the high PC requirements mean some players might need to upgrade their computers to enjoy the full experience.
