LinkedIn is expanding its free verification system to other websites in 2025, according to TheVerge and LinkedIn announcements. Led by Oscar Rodriguez, VP of Trust, LinkedIn’s system will let users show a “Verified on LinkedIn” badge on platforms like Adobe’s Behance.
The system, which confirms your identity, workplace, and education, launched in 2023 and has already verified over 80 million people in countries including the US, India, Canada, and Mexico.
What is Verification and How Does it Work?
Verification means proving you are really who you say you are online – like showing an ID card at a security check. Users can verify themselves using government IDs, work emails, or school credentials through partners like CLEAR, DigiLocker, and Persona.
Users can even scan special passports with chips (called NFC-enabled passports) using the LinkedIn app for quick verification. The system matches your profile name without sharing sensitive body information like fingerprints or face scans (what experts call “biometric data“).
Expansion to Other Platforms
Adobe is the first major partner in this expansion through its Content Authenticity Initiative (a system for proving content is real). The verified badges will appear on Adobe’s app starting April 2025, with other early adopters including TrustRadius, G2, and UserTesting.
Platform Partners | Verification Partners |
---|---|
Adobe Behance | CLEAR |
TrustRadius | DigiLocker |
