OpenAI, the company that makes ChatGPT, has added a new Library feature that helps users find and use AI-made pictures. According to Gadgets360, this feature was announced on Wednesday and is available right away on all ChatGPT platforms – website, mobile apps, and desktop apps. This new tool will help users manage their AI-created images more easily.
The new Library feature lets all ChatGPT users – free users and paying Plus and Pro members – store and organize images they create. You can find this Library in the left-hand sidebar of ChatGPT. With this tool, you can browse through all your pictures in a grid view, edit them, save them, or share them with others. There’s also a handy “Make Image” button that lets you create new pictures quickly.
All of your image creations, all in one place.

It’s important to know that this Library only works with images made by GPT-4o, which is ChatGPT’s newest AI system launched in May 2024. The Library won’t show any older images made with DALL-E, which was ChatGPT’s previous image-making tool.
What makes GPT-4o different from the older DALL-E? Here are the main differences:
- GPT-4o can understand and create text, images, and voice all together in one system
- It makes clearer text in images – words in pictures look better
- It can create more complex scenes with 10-20 objects accurately
- It understands what you’re asking for better than DALL-E did
- It keeps everything consistent with your conversation
The Library has some helpful features but also some limitations. You can highlight parts of images to make specific edits to just those areas – like changing only a person’s hair color without changing the whole picture. This makes creative work much faster. However, you cannot delete individual images from your Library. To remove pictures, you have to delete the entire conversation where you created them.

- Browse all your GPT-4o images in one place
- Edit images by highlighting specific parts
- Save images to your device
- Share images directly from ChatGPT
- Create new images with one click
OpenAI launched this feature in April 2025 to help manage the more than 700 million images that users have created since March 2025. With 130 million people using ChatGPT, this Library makes it easier for everyone to find and reuse their AI pictures for personal projects, marketing materials, or teaching. Think of it like a photo album for all the AI pictures you’ve ever made with ChatGPT.

This update shows how AI tools are becoming more like everyday creative apps that we all use. For you as a user, this means less time searching for images you made before and more time creating and using them. The next time you use ChatGPT to make pictures, they’ll all be neatly organized in your Library waiting for you.
